{"id":76,"date":"2009-02-18T14:15:53","date_gmt":"2009-02-18T18:15:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.dev.atiqbd.com\/if-i-have-power-of-attorney-how-do-i-sign-legal-documents-on-behalf-of-my-grantor\/"},"modified":"2018-10-21T00:40:08","modified_gmt":"2018-10-21T04:40:08","slug":"if-i-have-power-of-attorney-how-do-i-sign-legal-documents-on-behalf-of-my-grantor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.standardlegal.com\/blog\/if-i-have-power-of-attorney-how-do-i-sign-legal-documents-on-behalf-of-my-grantor","title":{"rendered":"If I Have Power of Attorney, How Do I Sign Legal Documents on Behalf of My Grantor?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you have been named as &#8220;Attorney in Fact&#8221; by a Grantor through a Power of Attorney document, there is only one method that any document should ever be signed under this authority. <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>When signing on behalf of a Grantor as Attorney-in-Fact, you should always sign <strong>YOUR OWN NAME<\/strong>, followed by the words &#8220;<strong>Power of Attorney<\/strong>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p>Do NOT sign the Grantor&#8217;s name &#8212; EVER!<\/p>\n<p>By signing your own name with the words &#8220;Power of Attorney&#8221; after your name to any contract or other legal document, the person receiving the documents signed by you on behalf of the person who granted you the Power of Attorney understands exactly what is being provided.<\/p>\n<p>(NOTE: you should also provide a copy of the signed Power of Attorney document whenever a contract or agreement is substantial enough to warrant it.
