HOW DO I DOWNLOAD USING AOL?
Some email programs (most notably AOL's) do not support "clickable links", where the user simply clicks on a link provided in an email and is taken to that link's web page.
When clickable links are not supported, the user must manually copy the link from the email that supplies it and then paste that link into a web browser (like Internet Explorer).
To complete this process, follow these directions:
Find the link you wish to access in the body of the email. Position the mouse cursor at the beginning of the link, the hold down the mouse button while dragging the cursor across the entire length of the link, highlighting all of it. Now, COPY the entire link, either by hitting the keys Control and the letter "C" at the same time or by selecting "Copy" under the Edit menu (Edit>Copy).
Next, go to your Window's Start button and launch your web browser -- typically Internet Explorer on most PCs. (If the Internet Explorer launch button is not on the main page of the Start menu, look under "Programs" or "All Programs".) Once Internet Explorer is launched, insert your cursor into the Address bar at the very top of the browser. Then PASTE the link, either by hitting the keys Control and the letter "P" at the same time or by selecting "Paste" under the Edit menu (Edit>Paste).
Once the link is pasted into the Address bar, hit the ENTER key. So long as your PC is actively connected to the internet, the link should access the designated web page. (If your PC is not connected to the internet, Windows will typically dial up your ISP/web provider automatically; if not, you must read your Windows help file for information on connecting to the internet.)
