Can I Find the Names of People Who Own Certain Corporations or LLCs in Public Records?

Corporations and LLCs do not necessarily have to disclose the names of people holding ownership interests in those entities within any public records.

In most states, the name of an ‘agent’ is required so that documents can be served to that representative, but the name of all owners of a corporation or LLC are not required in those filings.

So while you can try to ‘play detective’ to learn who owns a corporation or limited liability company, Ask Standard Legal cannot offer a strategy to obtain that information.
