Downloadable files are supplied in “.zip” format to reduce their file size and ensure the contents are delivered without corrupting them. Zip files must be EXTRACTED before use.
The Word format is the primary format for v5 long form contractual documents, where multiple paragraphs and pages are presented in written format.
Two basic requirements must be followed to use the PDF format from Standard Legal.
If you double-click a Standard Legal PDF or Word file and the Adobe Reader or Word program you want to use doesn’t launch, you need to change the settings on your device.
Some users of the PDF legal forms have printer default setups that leave the “question mark prompts” that provide instructions for individual form fields to print on their forms. Let’s fix that.
The print margins on Standard Legal’s forms are very small. Usually, if a printed form page is cut off, the issue can be corrected in the print dialogue box.
The Microsoft Word and PDF versions of the legal documents are set up so that the only required content changes are done so in the “fill-in-the-blank” boxes. This recommended use ensures that the legal context is correct as written by our attorneys, while still allowing the user to add in custom information as necessary.
To add custom content to these form field boxes, simply insert your cursor into the box and type your answer. Then use the Tab key to move to the next box.
A change can be made to the baseline content of a form, but we DO NOT RECOMMEND this. The following describes how to access that baseline content.

A computer’s settings dictate what program will be used to open a particular file type. Most often, .doc files or .dot files (document template) will automatically open in Microsoft Word.
